Opening of the Honorary Consulate-General of India in Krakow
A ceremony to mark the opening of the Honorary Consulate-General of India in Krakow was held on 14th September 2024 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Krakow. Mr. Ryszard ?mia?ek, Deputy Voivode of Ma?opolskie, and Ambassador Nagma M. Mallick jointly lit the inaugural lamp to symbolise the opening. Mr. Stanis?aw Mazur, Deputy Mayor of Krakow, and Mr. Dominik Jaskowiec, Member of Sejm from Krakow, also attended.
2. Ambassador Mallick felicitated Ms. Aleksandra G?od Ahmed on her appointment as India’s Honorary Consul-General in Krakow with consular jurisdiction over the regions of Ma?opolskie, Podkarpackie and Swietokrzyskie. She noted that the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Poland last month, in the 70th year of India-Poland diplomatic relations, reaffirmed the importance of this bilateral relationship to India. She also observed that the opening of the Honorary Consulate-General also attested to the growing importance of bilateral trade ties and people-to-people ties between India and southern Poland. Deputy Voivode ?mia?ek welcomed this appointment and hoped for stronger trade and other bilateral ties in the years ahead.
3. Ms. Ragini Nagar, Kathak danseuse, presented a scintillating Kathak performance, the Tarana famous for its lively steps set to rhythmic abstract syllables, to an enthusiastic audience. An exhibition of textile paintings on handspun khadi using organic indigo colours titled ‘Aadiyogi Shiv: a journey in cosmic indigo’ created by Ms. Sangeeta Gupta, a well-known Indian artist, was inaugurated and displayed: the skill of the artist and her creations were much admired.
